Was "Österreichisches"

Nachdem ich mir ja heute ein Buch in deutscher Sprache aussuchen wollte, habe ich mich gleich für eine österreichische Autorin entschieden. Und zwar für eine der wenigen, die ich gerne lese. Das Buch ist nicht ganz neu, und natürlich ist die Rahmenhandlung deshalb auch ein wenig antiquiert. Aber es ist schön, in die wienerische Szenerie abzutauchen. Bisher habe ich fast 100 Seiten gelesen und unterhalte mich bestens.

Amazon Lieferung

Gestern konnte ich wieder ein Paket von Amazon abholen. Dieses Mal wurde eine neue Bestellung mit einer schon älteren Bestellung kombiniert. Die ältere sollte allerdings mit einer Neuerscheinung erst im November ausgeliefert werden. Amazon hat aber einfach die Bestellungen zusammengefasst und so meine Kalkulation durcheinander gebracht.

Später am Abend werde ich dann noch einen weiteren Eintrag machen, da ich den Kadare bereits ausgelesen habe.  Das war bei knapp 90 Seiten auch nicht weiter schwierig, ich bin mir aber noch nicht sicher, wofür ich mich entscheiden werde. Auf jeden Fall für etwas deutschsprachiges, da ich jetzt doch einige englische Bücher gelesen habe.

Neuer Lesestoff

Gestern Abend habe ich das True Blood-Buch ausgelesen. Irgendwie war es ganz witzig zu lesen, wie man Philosophie und diese Vampir-Serie zusammenbringen kann und welche "philosophischen" Schlüsse man aus Szenen im Buch oder der TV-Serie ziehen kann. Ich habe jetzt noch ein Buch über "Twilight and Philosphy", aber "House and Philosphy" wäre bestimmt auch ganz nett. Heute habe ich in der Straßenbahn dann mit einem ganz dünnen Büchlein für das Ende des Monats ausgesucht, die Reise geht diesesmal in den Kosovo.

Vampire im Juni

Gestern Nachmittag habe ich den ersten Sookie Stackhouse Band ausgelesen, jetzt darf ich mich auf die nächsten neun Bücher freuen. Für mein Vampir-Leseprojekt mache ich gleich mit Sookie und der Fernsehserie "True Blood" weiter. Ein ähnliches Buch habe ich auch noch zur Twilight Serie, vom selben Verlag und zumindest der selben Herausgeberin - und darauf freue ich auch schon sehr.

Sookie Stackhouse im Juni

Heute habe ich endlich Joyce Carol OATES ausgelesen. Das Buch hat mir sehr gut gefallen, aber zum Schluß wollte ich es schon fertig lesen. Wobei ich den Schluß dann als etwas Unpassend und Seltsam fand. Es war ein bedrückendes Buch, aber das ist bei Oates ja oft so.

Heute Abend beginne ich dann endlich mit der Sookie-Stackhouse-Serie, von der ich ja auch jedes Monat einen Teil lesen möchte. Und darauf freue ich mich, denn es wird bestimmt wieder sehr kurzweilig - die Fernsehserie ist ja wesentlich düsterer und gewaltvoller.

Dead Until Dark

Plot summary: Sookie lives with her grandmother, Adele, and has an older brother, Jason. Early in the book, Sookie falls in love with a vampire, a Civil War veteran named Bill Compton. After first meeting Bill, Sookie saves him from some "drainers", people who steal blood from vampires. Bill returns the favor the next day when the drainers attack Sookie.

Several murders occur in Bon Temps, and Bill becomes a suspect because many of the bodies have fang marks. Sookie's brother Jason is romantically linked to two of the victims, prompting the Bon Temps police arrest him. Wanting to help her brother, Sookie asks Bill to take her to a vampire bar called Fangtasia, which is owned by Eric Northman, a vampire sheriff much older and more powerful than Bill.

Eric realizes that Sookie's telepathy can be useful and commands Bill to direct Sookie to use her ability to determine the identity of the one embezzling from Fangtasia. Once Sookie identifies Long Shadow, who is Eric's partner and also a vampire, a confrontation ensues that nearly kills Sookie. Eric saves Sookie's life by staking Long Shadow when he attacks her. Meanwhile in Bon Temps, Adele is murdered within the family kitchen.

Bill, concerned with Eric's power over him and Sookie, decides to improve his own position within the vampire hierarchy. He asks Bubba, a dim-witted vampire, to protect Sookie while he is gone. Sookie discovers that her boss, Sam, is a shape-shifter when she lets a stray dog sleep on her bed and finds a naked Sam in the morning.

While Bill is gone, Sookie discovers that the murderer is her brother's friend Rene Lenier. He almost kills her, but she fights back. Badly injured, Sookie wakes up in the hospital and finds Bill by her side. Bill tells Sookie that he has become his area's investigator, working under Eric.

Vampir-Leseprojekt

Heute ist mir bei Hintermayer wieder ein Vampir-(Jugend)Buch in die Hände gefallen, das perfekt zu meinem Projekt ,jeden Monat ein Vampir-Buch zu lessen, passt. Und um 4 Euro kann ja auch nichts verkehrt sein. Dieses Monat ist noch ein entsprechendes Vampir-Buch und der erste Sookie Stackhouse-Band dran.

Souvenir aus Malta

Den Roman von Sophie Kinsella habe ich in Malta früher als erwartet ausgelessen. Er hat mir sehr gut gefallen und vielleicht war ich deshalb auch so schnell fertig. Da ich so ganz ohne Lesestoff nicht wirklich leben kann, mußte ich in Sliema die Buchhandlung "Books Plus" in der Bisazza Street aufsuchen. Gekauft habe ich mir nur zwei Bücher, aber ich hatte ja kaum Zeit zum Stöbern, schliesslich mussten auch noch Souvenirs für den Rest der Familie besorgt werden.

Malta-Lektüre

Morgen Früh geht es los für eine Woche mit meinen Eltern nach Malta. Lange ersehnt und nur möglich, weil mein geliebter Kater Sebastian nicht mehr lebt. Heute haben wir Philipp in die Tierpension gebracht und nun steht dem Urlaub nichts mehr im Wege. Zwar konnte ich den Nick Hornby nicht auslesen, aber den kann ich auch in etwas mehr als einer Woche beenden.

Gestern Abend habe ich das "Frivole Wien" ausgelesen und es hat mir wieder ausserordentlich gut gefallen. Vermutlich entspricht nicht alles der Wahrheit, aber die Anekdoten waren gut beschrieben und es könnte sich so abgespielt haben - oder auch ganz anders.

Heute Morgen habe ich mich dann für ein dünnes Vor-Urlaubsbuch entschieden:
