Mit dem Zug unterwegs

Nachdem ich am Wochenende das Projektbuch über den Nil ausgelesen habe, musste ich heute etwas Neues auswählen. Nach der Flussreise auf dem Nil mit einem sehr interessant erzählenden Ägyptologen bin ich nun mit 100 Schriftstellern auf einer Zugreise quer durch Europa.

 

Was ich bisher in der U-Bahn gelesen habe, überzeugt mich allerdings nicht. Der Ich-Erzähler ist wieder mal ein Verlierer, dazu noch gewollt lustig. Offensichtlich dürfen in der Literatur die Protagonisten weder glücklich noch erfolgreich sein. Bisher habe ich weder von herrlicher Satire etwas gemerkt, noch von einem rasanten Road-Trip. Bisher ist der Roman eher im Schneckentempo unterwegs. Vielleicht liegt es aber auch an der deutschen "brillanten" Übersetzung, ich habe mir jedenfalls mehr erwartet. Immerhin kann ich auf meiner literarischen Weltkarte Georgien abhaken.

Da ich heute Frei habe, habe ich mir mein Paket von Amazon selbst von der Post geholt, und immerhin war diese Bestellung auf nur zwei Packerln aufgeteilt. Eine DVD (ich habe gerade wieder eine Fosse-Phase), lag schon letzte Woche im Postkasten.

 

In dem heutigen Päckchen gab es zwei Bücher für Robert - eines von Jack Kerouac, und eines zu dem Hörbuch, das er gerade hört. Für mich gab es eine weitere Jazz-Biographie und ein Vampirbuch eines Autors, der in Malta geboren wurde. Außerdem hat es eine weitere Jazz-Sängerin von einem Sampler zu Soloehren in unsere Sammlung geschafft.

Flussprojekt im März

Mein diesjähriges Flussprojekt führt mich im März an den Nil und ich freue mich schon sehr auf die Reise. Ägyptens Geschichte hat mich schon immer sehr interessiert - seit ich in der Schule darüber gelernt habe. Irgendwann würde ich das Land auch gerne selbst besuchen und eine Flusskreuzfahrt am Nil machen. Bis dahin werde ich mich jetzt mittels eines Buches auf diese Reise begeben.

- oder wie Salman Rushdie es aufzählt, "Two Years, Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights" ist mein neues Buch, das ich heute in der U-Bahn begonnen habe. Ich habe in etwa 50 Seiten bisher gelesen und wie jeder Rushdie gefällt es mir wahnsinnig gut. Ich freue mich schon, morgen Früh in der U-Bahn weiterzulesen.

Gestern hat mir Robert wieder ein Amazon Paket von der Post abgeholt und wie üblich, versendet Amazon halt alles, was gerade greifbar ist. Ein großes Paket, in dem allerdings auch zwei Bücher aus einer Bestellung mit Neuerscheinungen, waren. Die hätten erst im Sommer geliefert werden sollen, aber gut. Ein Hörbuch für Robert und ein paar Bücher für mich. Ein Buch ist bereits am Dienstag im Postkasten gewesen, und ein weiteres Hörbuch für Robert wurde am Freitag verschickt. Das übliche Durcheinander bei Amazon eben. Der Einfachheit halber wird das zukünftige Hörbuch von Robert aber auch gleich hier vorgestellt.

 

Meine Auswahl war sehr Bücher-Buch lastig. Aber es ist eben eines meiner Lieblingsthemen. Außerdem habe ich mit ein Buch über das Alltagsleben der Frauen in den 50er-Jahren in England gekauft und einen Weihnachts-Liebesroman für den Advent, sowie ein modernes Märchenbuch.

Noch ein Zwischendurchbuch

Nachdem ich heute in der U-Bahn den komischen Ratgeber über das Schreiben und Publizieren und Vermarkten von E-Books gelesen habe, habe ich mich als nächstes Zwischendurchbuch für den Broadway und einen meiner Lieblings-Choreographen entschieden. Und mit nur 74 Seiten werde ich es am Mittwoch auch wieder ausgelesen haben.

Description: This show-by-show analysis of one of Broadway's pre-eminent American choreographers, Bob Fosse, is delivered by Fosse compatriot, dancer and road choreographer, Margery Beddow. The text contains accounts and photographs of shows including "Damn Yankees", "Chicago" and "Sweet Charity".

 

Beddow, a dancer who appeared in numerous Fosse shows (she replaced Gwen Verdon in one of his early shows) and recreated some of his choreography for national touring shows, checks in with a show-by-show account of Fosse's career, from Pajama Game through Sweet Charity and Pippin to Big Deal -- all told from a dancer's point of view. The book is at its best when it vividly describes some of Fosse's "lost" dances for lesser-known shows like Frank Loesser's Pleasures and Palaces, which closed out of town. Included are many rare photos of Fosse's dancers in action, and a heartbreaking account of his last rehearsal on the day he died.

Zwischendurchbuch zum Thema Schreiben

Da ich zuhause immer noch an meine Jazz-Guide lese, und das wahrscheinlich auch noch mindestens eine weitere Woche so bleiben wird, habe ich mich für die U-Bahn für ein Buch zum Thema schreiben entschieden.

 

Allerdings gibt es weniger reale Tipps zum Schreiben, sondern es ist ziemlich lustlos runtergeschrieben, der Autor gibt auch zu, das es ihm darum geht, mit möglichst wenig Aufwand möglichst viel Geld zu verdienen. Naja, es ist ein dünnes Buch, am Montag werde ich es ausgelesen haben. Der Klappentext ist ja fast länger als das Buch. Bewertung wird es keine gute bekommen, weil es einfach nur Mist ist. Aber dafür immerhin handtaschentauglich.

Cinderella

Mein erstes Zwischendurch-Buch habe ich bereits am Montag ausgelesen und es hat mir überraschenderweise gut gefallen. Vampire und Bibliotheken gehören zusammen, das hat auch der Autor des Büchleins so gesehen. Vier Vampirgeschichten hat er besonders hervorgehoben - und ich kenne alle, wenn ich auch die erste nur mit Robert als Hörbuch mitgehört habe und wir beide den Historiker lieben, und auf unserer Donaureise an einigen Orten des Romans waren:
